This is the 1928 Provisional Issue of the Bank of Greece 1000 Drachmae. The banknote is black on green on multi-colored underprint on the front. The front shows the image of G. Stavros in the center with the denomination and two signatures. The back is blue and pink underprint. This is not very obvious due to the darkening of the note due to soiling. The back depicts the image of stone ruins and carvings in the center. The note was originally printed on 15 October 1926 by the National Bank of Greece. However, this particular note was issued in 1928 as the third provisional issue. The front has the name of the new bank curved in red overprint on top of Stavros' image. The front has two signatures and the serial number. This particular note has the serial number 482354 and is series "KE051" which is written twice in red on the front. This is Pick 100a. Size: The banknote measures ~7 5/8" by ~3 5/8". Pick Number: P-100a. Condition: I would grade this banknote as a nice fine or better with all the details still being preserved. The note is soiled and thus the colors are not fresh neither vivid. The note as folds., creases, wrinkling, lost its stiffness and is limp. The note is soiled but has no objectionable stains. It has no pinholes, no graffiti, no tears and no splits. Its corners are rounded and its edges show general roughness.
