Description: 1970 Crisp Uncirculated Banknote Two Rupees Reserve Bank of India Image of Mahatma Gandhi Pick 67b For your World Currency Collection-PCU1710 Details Description: A nice crisp uncirculated wo rupees small banknote issued by the Reserve Bank of India. The note has the image of the Ashoka pillar to the right of the front. It is red-violet on multi-colored underprint with the number 2 in the center. The back, which is in the same color as the front, shows the image of Mahatma Gandhi seated and reading a book in the center. The note was issued to commemorate the Birth Centennial of Gandhi. The banknote has a watermark depicting Ashoka pillar. It has one signature on the front, that of Bhaskar Namdeo Adarkar the Governor of the Reserve Bank Of India in the period 5/4/1970-6/15/1970. The front also displays the serial number and series in the bottom right corner. This particular note has the serial number D over 3 685489. Date: The note has no date but was issued in the period May 4, 1970 through June 15, 1970 when Mr. Adarka served as Governor of the Reserve Bank of India. Printer: India Security Press.
