BUSH, BARACK OBAMA, DONALD TRUMP, JOE BIDEN 9 Individually and Sequentially Numbered Figurines PlusFIVE-TIERED DISPLAY STAND This listing is for a set of 9 hand-painted, injection molded plastic figurines of the 38th through 46th Presidents of the U.S., made to look like the three-inch Marx Presidents figurines of the 1950s and '60s. Tens of thousands of presidential figurines made by the Marx Toy Company were sold over the years. Thousands of these vintage collectors items have appeared on eBay as individual listings and in sets, with the most recent president being Richard Nixon. Infrequently, the rare Ronald Reagan figure appears (made when he was a candidate for president in 1968). Because Marx was sold in 1972, they never made figurines of presidents Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, George Bush, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, Barack Obama, Donald Trump or Joe Biden. Starting in 2003, collector Patric M. Verrone began producing figurines in the Marx tradition. Thousands of these new figurines have been produced and have been featured in WIRED Magazine (www.wired.com/2009/10/st-verrone-futurama/) and The New Yorker (www.newyorker.com/magazine/2017/03/06/a-comedy-writer-makes-trump-collectibles). Like the vintage Marx product, these figurines are each about 3 inches tall (60mm), machine-cast in plastic, and painted with enamel paint. The last name of the president appears on the front of the base. On the back of the base, raised letters say the president's number and the years of his term. (The exception is Joe Biden - the back of that base is blank.) Unlike the Marx figurines, each figurine is individually and sequentially numbered on a sticker on the bottom of the base. Also included is a plastic display stand, designed in the manner of the Styrofoam stand that accompanied the 1970 releases of the Marx sets. It is molded out of vacuum-formed plastic and can hold 45 figurines when the plastic pillars are in place. When the pillars are removed, the stand can hold up to 49 figurines. These stands are individually and sequentially numbered. A listing photo shows an entire Marx President Set, from George Washington to Joe Biden, displayed on the stand.
