Description: From Modest Mike’s Mods Short version: This listing is for one of our modified Electro-Harmonix made in the USA (NYC) Big Muff guitar effects pedals (you get the modified pedal). This one comes with our popular “Gilmour mod.” Plus we have drilled and added a mid tone control! We can also do this mod to your NYC or Black Russian Big Muff. Call or email us for details. David Gilmour anyone? There are a lot of guitarists that spend an enormous amount of time chasing "that sound." This pedal is a real good start! If you do the research, you will find that David used an expensive version of the Ram's Head BMP. Don’t let anyone fool you! There are mods floating around on line that imply you can change 3 or 4 components in your Big Muff to achieve the Rams Head sound. The truth is there are no shortcuts. We laid down the schematics for the Big Muff and the Rams Head. By comparing these schematics, it is obvious there are quite a few changes that need to be made. And that’s the biggest part of what we do! We start at the input signal replacing all the key parts to match, and we don’t stop until we hit the output. And this pic does not show it, but we replaced the LED with a new water/clear to bright blue LED.Also if true bypass is important to you, well this one has true bypass. No tone sucking here! And…did you notice? We have drilled and added a mids control knob. This one will let you scoop mids or boost those mids making it easier for you to dial in those sounds you are looking for. We also drilled and added a standard 9 volt power jack. Check out the original video clip. Just imagine what you could do with the extra mid control. And I just can't emphasize this enough...USE YOUR HEADPHONES! Modest Mike's Gilmour Mod for Electro-Harmonix Big Muff - YouTube Video will open in a new window Question: "Why does the NYC Big Muff come with an outdated external power jack?" Good question! The answer is I don't know...unless they just wanted to make it look like the one from way back when. Not very practical though. Normally you need a 1/8 inch pin style adapter to power this pedal, or settle for battery power. So you will appreciate this one! No more weird adapters or batteries needed! Well, you can still use a battery if you want to :) They say a picture says a thousand words. Do you think Jonathan is happy with his modified big Muff? “Mike, Got it today, thanks for the speedy shipping. WOW! There's soooo much tone I dont know what to do with it! I hear Gilmour everywhere,,,sounds really super, nice job! I really like the blue LED, thanks also for the DC plug too!” Mark “Great mod, tightens up the NYC muff into a more musical pedal. Mike responded quickly, made additional mods at my request, and quoted an accurate timeline. I will definitely order more from Modest Mike in the future.” Michael "Dear modestmikesmods, Just wanted to let you know I got the pedal today and it sounds great! There's a lot more tone to play around with and dial in compared to the stock version. It's earned a place on my pedal board next to the Robert Keeley DS-1 for now. It might just take over though! It's reasonably nastier than the DS-1 already, but I get a huge sound difference just switching from bridge to neck pickup. I love it! The adapter swap is a major plus and that awesome blue led is so bright I could use it as a night light. You da man! Thanks again, Jon" "Excellent seller, Big Muff sounds awesome, will definitely buy from again." Buyer: bruins42477 From Dave Hi! Just had to drop you a quick thank you for the amazing job you did on that Big Muff I ordered. It straight up nails Gilmour's Wall tones and is simply one of the best Big Muff's I've ever heard or played in 35+ years! Can't wipe the smile off my face. It's rare that someone delivers EXACTLY what they advertise. I will be checking out more of your mods! Thanks again! Dave Michael wanted a green LED on his modded muff: “Sorry it took me so long to write. I'm really digging the ram's head mod, it sounds amazing! Also, I think the green LED is perfect, wouldn't have wanted it any other way. Thanks again, Michael” From Aaron in Canada: "WOW!! What a sound!! I've been having a shoot out between yours and my 78 op amp muff. Mine is a tad dirtier, but it's almost as old as I am. It's exactly what I was looking for, a cleaner bigger version of my 78. I can now retire the old girl and use her just for recording. I really didn't want to take it out on the road anymore. With the right guitar and the right amp you can get that pumpkins sound out of it as well. Great pedal, I will be recommending it to my buddy's. Thanks again... Aaron" From France: “Hi Mike, Pedal is here … a great sound with plenty sustain and harmonics! Very satisfied with your work. I think the next one is your modified Pro Co Phat Rat. Best regards, Lionel” John sent us his NYC BMP for our mod service:"The Big Muff arrived yesterday and all I can say is WOW! This thing sounds fantastic. Also I can't thank you enough for the fast turnaround. I have plenty of time to work with this thing in preparation for the Pink Floyd concert in Las Vegas next weekend. It's so refreshing to encounter great customer service in this day and age. I would leave you six stars if I could :) "We make your sounds... sound good!” Thanks for looking, and keep rockin!
