Description: This offering is for an antique 19th century hand painted portrait on a terracotta or redware pottery plate. The plate is impressed on the back with a GALLOWAY & GRAFF PHILADELPHIA" makers mark. The back is also BABY/URX and SAVE FOR BILL. The plate measures app. 12" in diameter and it was designed with small holes on the back side to allow it to be hung. The condition of the plate itself in excellent with no chips, cracks or breaks. The painting has overall crazing and minor loss around the very high point on the rim edge. The painting is also rather dusty and dirty as we have not cleaned it preferring to live with it as is. Based on the clothing and hair style I believe the portrait was painted in the 1870's to 1880's. The buyer will pay a fixed amount of $ 24.00 for Standard Mail and we will include delivery confirmation, tracking, at no additional cost.
