Description: Description: This is a striking Old Silver Indian prayer box pendant. The pendant has been made and worn by the tribal gypsy people of Rajasthan in Northern India. I bought it in Rajastan myself. It is 100-160 years old, and is extremely pure silver 98% pure (sterling silver is 92.5%). It is a prayer box which has the intention of protecting the wearer from bad spirits etc. Inside will have probably have been put some tiny religious items like rolled up prayers and powder, then the box will have gone through a special blessing ceremony where priests chant prayers and blow incense over it. Finally it is permanently sealed to lock the blessings inside. The front features a floral pattern. The pendant is 2.5 cm across, and 2.2 cm from top to bottom including the hoops at the top and the dangles at the bottom. I will send the pendant on a length of very strong black cotton cord, tied into an adjustable length slip knot. I have been making my living exclusively from designing and making jewellery for 9 years. I travel every year to seek out old and tribal silver from Asia and India along with semi-precious stones. Back at home in Brighton, England, I make these loose pieces up into beautiful and unusal jewellery. Every item will be send beautifully packaged in a cotton gift bag made especially for me by a women's self help group in India.
