Description: SAMI ZILKHA (ZILKA) ABSTRACT BROOCH PENDANT STERLING STRIKING! A WEARABLE PIECE OF ART Unique OOAK abstract design sterling silver pendant on 18” 925 chain. The abstract design is very intricate and labor intensive to create. The bale is overly large so the chain can be swapped out with leather strands or most any other necklace of your choosing The item is in EXCELLENT CONDITION, with minuscule amount of age-related wear. It bears the Zilka stamp “HAND MADE 925 S. ZILKA” but the stamp didn’t bite deep enough into the metal, so some letters are faint. ABOUT THE ARTIST: Sami was born in Baghdad in 1936 and immigrated to Israel in 1951. His first introduction to the world of art was through his work with Jan Gilon, the painter, in the Do Re Mi Theatre. He graduated from the Tel Aviv College for art teachers in 1970. Over a period of two years, Sami taught himself the goldsmith's craft and for many years was the principal jewelry designer in the studios of the world famous RACHEL AND ELI GERA. Their jewelry now sells for thousands of dollars. Sami created unique one-of-a-kind pieces for the actresses Maria Schell, Anna Magnani and Elizabeth Taylor, as well as the actors Peter Ustinov and Jean Mare and the singer Adamo, among others. Sami’s pieces are featured in museums as well as in the highest gallery venues and private art collections of prominent collectors in Israel and all over the world.
