Optical prints (Vues d'Optiques), also known as perspective views, were popular between the mid-1700s and early 1800s. They were meant to be observed through a set of several mirrors or by use of a Zograscope, an instrument consisting of a lens and a mirror. The process originated in Paris and sought to show the most famouos city views, vistas and landscapes. Optical prints were the forerunners of the 3D images and stereoscopes of the 19th century.
