Description: Original WW1 Souvenir Trench Art Brass Shell Trench Lighter Genuine period trench art souvenir shell lighter made from Artillery shells used during the First World War. Trench art are objects usually made from scrap materials, debris or by-products of warfare. Although items made by soldiers are called trench art, they were almost never made in the trenches. Items like this required skill, tools and machinery and were manufactured in workshops behind the lines. The lighter is made from brass and features a pattern to the exterior with a artillery shell driveband decoration, detachable top, screw bottom to refill with liquid fuel and wick.
