Description: Looks to possibly be this captains original helmet. Super cool rare and in very nice condition with liner and chin strap intact. Captain John August Earl Bergstrom, who entered the U.S. Army from Texas, was a member of the 93rd Bombardment Squadron, 19th Bombardment Group. He was killed when he was hit by bomb fragments on December 10, 1941, during an enemy air raid against Clark Field, Luzon. He was buried at Fort Stotsenburg's cemetery, Luzon, but he has not been identified from among remains recovered from the area after the war, and is still unaccounted-for. Today, Captain Bergstrom is memorialized on the Walls of the Missing at the Manila American Cemetery in the Philippines. If this is his helmet it definitely saw combat action and possibly removed right after he was impaled by shrapnel in the Philippines. This WW1 US Doughboy Helmet is a true piece of history. It is an original item that was worn by Captain Bergstrom of the 93rd Division during World War I. The helmet is perfect for collectors of militaria and those interested in the history of the United States. The helmet is in great shape and has a beautiful design. It features the iconic doughboy cap and is made of high-quality materials. This item is a must-have for any serious collector of original period items.
