Description: Up for sale is a very nice and 100% original Kelly Helmet. These helmets were improved versions of the 1917 Doughboy helmet from the First World War. These helmets were worn by US forced up until 1941. Kelly helmets were typically still worn by pacific theatre forces because the government saw the European theatre as more important, and therefore the best gear was prioritized for them. Famously during the battle of Guadalcanal, US marines there were wearing Kelly helmets, and carried the outdated 1903 Springfield rifle. Overall the condition of this helmet is quite nice, and the original chin strap is still there which is not always the case. The liner is still and has begun to separate slightly, you can tell the soldier wore this helmet and sweated in it etc. This piece has tremendous character and displays quite well!
