Description: Otto Kuhler (1894-1977) was an artist and printmaker, and later a successful industrial designer. Kuhler was born in Germany. He befriended the printmaker, Joseph Pennell, during the latter's sojourn in Europe. Pennell encouraged Kuhler to take up etching, which he did. Kuhler immigrated to the United States in 1923 and became renowned and known best for his etchings of American industry and trains. The print offered here is one of Kuhler's European images. It was made in 1928 and is an etching of the tower of St. Rombaut Cathedral in Belgium and the nearby market place. Kuhler has signed the print in pencil below the image to the right. This print is from my personal collection which I am beginning to sell off. Unless noted otherwise in the description, the prints and art that I sell are not "reproductions". For example, offered maps are of the period. Please check my other listings for additional items of interest. I will combine shipping.
