Description: Ovris CFO III Fly Reel - Limited Edition Gold - 1977 / 1978 - Rare! Orvis CFO III Limited Edition Fly Reel. Machined out of solid bar stock aluminum. This is the gold version. The reel appeared in the Orvis 1977 and 1978 catalogs along with Limited Edition Orvis Classic Fly Rod. There are conflicting reports on how many were produced. Some articles say 300 and others say 500 (I've never seen one numbered over 300 but that isnt enough for me to confirm one way or another). The reel was actually priced separately in the 1978 catalog as the "Limited Edition Charles F. Orvis Reel.....$95.00", but only offered as part of the presentation set in the 1977 catalog. The reel was made in England for Orvis by Hardy. Left or right hand retrieve. Overall reel presents in excellent used condition with minor wear to some spots along the edges. Comes with case.
