Description: This listing is for an early style hand forged wedge axe. Made by and marked - THE PEAVEY MANUFACTURING COMPANY / P-V AXE / BREWER, MAINE. It is darn near impossible to find one of these with a completely readable mark. Due to the number of letters in the logo and the amount of space it took up on the head, most of the logos suffered abuse in one spot or another. Although lightly stamped, as shown, this has an almost fully readable mark. Measures 6 5/8" long with a 4" wide cutting edge. Marked 3 3/4 for the weight. The actual weight is 3 lbs. 9 oz. A previous owner put his initials 'SF' on the underside of the head as shown. The flip side of the head is marked 'VANADIUM STEEL'.
