The first jet flew a Seattle - Anchorage segment and the second was a Seattle - Ketchikan - Juneau flight.No cachet was provided for the inaugural mail.This cover was carried on the inaugural Air Mail Route 139 flight from the Seattle, Washington Airport Mail Facility to Anchorage, Alaska (where it was backstamped) and is listed in the Jet Age Flights section of The American Air Mail Catalogue as J-906f. Bob Haring, a former Editor-in-Chief of The American Air Mail Catalogue, prepared the cover. Pacific Northern Airlines ("The Alaska Flag Line") was founded in January 1945 as Woodley Airlines, renamed Pacific Northern Airways on August 27, 1945 and Pacific Northern Airlines on August 23, 1947; merged into Western Airlines on October 31, 1967.
