Description: You are bidding on one Weiss & Sohn adjustable chip breaker with its adjusting screw as pictured.The chip breaker is marked with "JOH WEISS SOHN WI...." in their logo, with the upper part of the mark quite faint. The last word would be Wien, and Wien is the German word for Vienna. Width at the lower end is about 45mm, or a hair over 1-3/4". The screw has the three notches in the head to make it easier to adjust while in place.Johann Weiss made tools in Vienna, Austria, beginning in 1820. The company became Weiss & Sohn (and son) in 1845, and continued in business well into the 1940's. Condition is good to very good, with some scattered light rust, mostly on the back side. The screw turns easily. SHIPPING: Under 1 pound, shipped in a padded envelope, insurance is included. The Post Office now has several prices increases during each year, raising a few things but not everything at each increase. And they now raise their rates during the Holidays, which means early October to late January. Their big increases are in January, timed to start at the end of the Holiday rates, and this year is no exception. And it's not just the postage rates, the insurance charges and the delivery signature charges have also gone up. There is now a surcharge for Priority Mail packages over 20" long, and another for Priority Mail packages over 30" long, because those longer packages won't fit in their automatic machines. And the Post Office has discontinued the Regional Flat Rate boxes, which were often less expensive for certain sizes and weights. I try to pick the best shipping option for each listing, based both on what is the least expensive and on what I think is needed to protect the item. If the value is $250 or over, eBay requires your signature at delivery for the buyer and seller protections to be in effect.SALES TAX: Interstate sales tax is now the reality on all the major selling websites including eBay. If I ship to a state where eBay is required to collect sales tax, eBay will charge you the sales tax for your location. There is lots of information available from eBay that explains it in much more detail. The sales tax is completely out of my hands -- I don't have anything to do with deciding whether to charge tax, I don't have anything to do with deciding the tax rate, and I never see any of the funds that are collected, they go directly to eBay.SELLING OUTSIDE OF EBAY: Why would I risk my lengthy good standing with eBay to save you a couple of dollars?
