Description: Atlus' paranormal RPG returns as players help a teenager deal with school during the day and battle phantoms at night in Persona 5. Gamers take on the role of a nameless protagonist, who spends the days dealing with schoolwork, taking on part-time jobs, engaging in leisurely activities, and forming relationships with other characters in and around modern-day Tokyo. Those bonds players build can give them attribute bonuses at night, when they join their party and head into dungeons to engage in turn-based battles with Shadows, which are the manifestations of adults' dark desires.
Gamers use a special mobile app to travel to the Metaverse, where dungeons are split into two categories. Players head into randomly generated Memento dungeons to perform tasks for other characters, while Palace dungeons further the story. The turn-based combat finds gamers either directly confronting enemies in dungeons, or unleashing surprise attacks. While in battle players can use magic or physical weapons to attack, and they can summon the titular Personas for help. Gamers can demand money or items from fallen Shadows, or they can negotiate with them in an attempt to join the party. Acquired Personas can then be unleashed in battle, trained or fused with other Personas to grow more powerful, or sacrificed to transfer their attributes or produce items.
