Description: Beautiful Mastana Unquna- Tablecloth that was Hand-woven in the Ccatca Community. This tablecloth is called Unquna or mastana is used by the Shamans as a tool for a ceremony called despacho, pago a la Pachamama ( pay to Mother Earth). The mesa quepe is essential because all the items are set on it. This Cloth was woven in one of the Q'ero Nations close to the town of Ocongate - Cusco. The unkuñas are characterized by having tassels. This Unkuña is also known as Tawa (Quaternary). It represents the four elements (pacha-earth, nina-fire, wayra-wind, yacu-water) and the three Andean worlds, the world below (Uju Pacha), the world of the here and now (Kay Pacha), and the world above (Hanan Pacha). It is used for rituals, oracles, and energy balancers. This unkuña was woven with the awayu or aguayo style. Also, these cloths are used traditionally as altar cloths for one's "mesa" (or shamanic altar) or as a surface for doing coca leaf divination. However they are also very lovely and unique for use in home decor, table coverings, etc. Awayu: Aguayo or awayu is part of the Andean cosmoogy. The aguayo is a hand-woven fabric with alpaca, llama or sheep wool, it is dyed with natural vibrant color. PACHAMAMA.- Pachamama (Mother Earth) in Quechua is the central all - surrounding motif of the Andean path. The religion of the Andean communities is very much an earth- centered religion. Pachamama is believed to be a vastly intelligent, self-aware being who is both infinitely wise and infinitely compassionate. Andeans in general, and paq'os in particular pray to her regularly. DESPACHO - HAYWARISQ'A.- Is the Quechua word for offering. A despacho is an act of love and a reminder of the connections we share with all beings, elements, spirits, and sacred places. It is an opportunity to enter into the essential unity of all things. A despacho is created during a celebratory ceremony, in the cosmology of the Andes.
