During this time, Peterson himself applied for several patents for pipe designs, including the world-famous Peterson’s System. Since then, Peterson has become one of the most recognizable names in pipe smoking and continues to produce high quality pipes from their headquarters in Dublin. As with another Donegal Rocky we recently listed, you may look at this one and notice that it does not look like the Donegal Rocky pipes sold by Peterson today. As Mark Irwin over at Peterson Pipe Notes documents, the series has undergone several revisions since its debut in 1945, with the style of rustication and color changing each time. This one looks to be from some time in the early 21st century. Theres an enjoyable depth to the finish, as well as a texture that allows for an interesting use of stains of differing hues.
