There were no noticeable scratches on the black main barrel. There is no indication of the pen width, but when I tried writing with it, I think it's about the fine Nib. Please see the image comparing the writing with the fine soft nib of the same Platinum fountain pen (Image 16). It wrote smoothly and there were no problems. Cartridges can be used.
