Pollard-Peters Collection of Mint Errors, sold by Jess Peters in 1980 (catalog)

Description: This is the catalog of the Pollard-Peters Collection of Mint Errors "A Pictoral Review". As is stated in the catalog introduction, this collection was formed by Wilson Pollard, whose goal was to build the finest-attainable error type set. The collection was sold to Jess & Vi Peters ~1979/1980 and Peters added a few pieces to the collection. Peters was apparently unsuccessful in selling the collection en bloc as he desired, so he issued a price list on 7/18/1980 for individual items. This price list is laid in. This is an exceedingly rare piece of United States error literature. I know of one other example, so I imagine there may be a half-dozen or so in existence, maybe fewer. This same catalog (with Frank and Laurese Katen's bookplate as shown above) was lot #659 in Katen Library auction sale No. 83 of 11/15/1996 (lot tag included). This is the one and only auction appearance that I can find (for ANY Pollard-Peters catalog). The catalog has (4) pages of text, (100) lots, and (6) pages of full-color plates (all 100 items are illustrated in color). Exceedingly rare, and a prize for a serious error collector or researcher.
