Description: Original pre-Civil War Era US M1816 Socket Bayonet w/ Leather Scabbard - Blade is "US WR" Marked - For Model 1816 Flintlock Musket - Very NICE Condition - RAREUp for sale is an Original pre-Civil War Era US Army Model 1816 Socket Bayonet. This bayonet has the "US WR" marking on the blade. The blade has a narrow flute at the front half of the blade. This bayonet will fit the Model 1816 Flintlock Musket. The blade and socket are in Very Nice Condition. Some minor discoloration on the socket & the blade. No rust on the socket or the blade. Minor surface pitting on the socket and blade. The bayonet is approximately 19" overall length, with a 3" socket with a 0.817" bore, 16" blade and 9" face flute. All measurements are approximate. Also included is a Leather Scabbard. This scabbard features the early sewn frog and belt loop. The scabbard has the full leather covering with a brass tip. The brass tip has some minor dents & dings, see photos. Some wrinkling and creasing on the leather. There are no visible markings on the scabbard. The scabbard is an original period item. This bayonet will fit the Model 1816 Muskets.
