Description: PRICE REDUCED 9/24/2023> Old Hickory camp knife by Ontario Knife Co.: Old Hickory knives have made their reputation as being versatile for various uses in home and industrial kitchens, butcher commerce, bushcraft utility and backup, and in camp kitchens. The simplicity of construction and high quality materials recommends them for all these uses and keeps them as trusted "hobby" equipment for family and group camping investments. Parent company Ontario Knife Company has made cutting equipment for U.S. military use for generations and bolsters the reputation of O.H. . Blade and half-tang are carbon steel and tempered not to flex but easy to sharpen. This blade has been blued, so clearly it has been used for camp back-up or carving rather than kitchen use. The front of the blade bears a stamp of the Ontario logo and both sides carry the apparent clamping marks carried by all O.H. knives from the stamping or forging process. The one-piece handle is a hardwood (hickory? walnut? ash?) riveted to the blade and captures half its length of tang for strong leverage in difficult cutting. The "Old Hickory" stamp is on the front side of the handle. Value here is in the knife's good condition and vintage flavor: this knife could be ten or a hundred years old. The processes haven't changed since O.H. Knives' origin more than a hundred years ago. They have always been cheap to buy, easy to maintain, and dependable for whatever use to which they are put. Note: No sheath has been provided for O.H. knives, due to the general-use of the knives and their storage in a kitchen drawer.
