Pendrey / The West Lodge / Althorp / Northampton", with various cancellation marks to front and back, including the seal of Elizabeth II at lower left and Windsor Castle cancellation to back of envelope. Eight handwritten words from the beloved "People's Princess", in all. Althorp was the childhood home of Diana, as well as her subsequent resting place following her untimely death in August 1997. Maud Pendrey was a beloved former housekeeper at the Spencer family home at Althorp, where her husband was also employed as a butler. 1985 would see the dazzling Diana's memorable dance with John Travolta at a White House dinner. She wore a Victor Edelstein gown which later sold for £240,000.
