Proto 2000 Undecorated EMD GP18 High Nose, Dynamic Brakes/DCC Ready, Mint In Box

Description: Be sure to read description all the way through: Beautiful, HO scale Life-Like Proto 2000 Undecorated EMD GP18 High Nose Diesel Locomotive with Dynamic Brakes, in Mint Condition In Original Box. Stock # 30534. Model is DCC Ready. Take a look at the photos (enlarged) and see what you think. (Pardon any camera flash reflection.) ALL factory-installed detail parts appear to be present as model has NEVER been run or even removed from the box insert! The body shell is obviously brand new. The chassis is factory-sealed inside the styrofoam insert by cellophane tape. Since it is sealed and therefore I could not test it, loco is being sold "As Is", of course. I can accept a return only as long as item remains factory-sealed. Once opened, loco can not then be returned and any warranty will have to come from Walthers, which now owns Life-Like. Model has operating constant & directional headlights on each end and lighted number boards, as well as factory-installed Proto 2000 Magnetic Knuckle Couplers with universal coupler pockets. Alternate X2F couplers (horn-hook) are also included. From what I can see through the clear plastic cover, the blackened metal wheels are pristine clean and show NO wear! It obviously hasn't ever been run. Stored inside the insert pocket, there are four still-sealed baggies containing all the add-on parts. Buyer should be prepared to replace anywhere from 1-4 of the axle gears, if desired. The Proto 2000 Geeps often have the very common manufacturer's defect of "split gears". The replacement axle gears are available from Athearn (part #60024, 6 in a pack). It has been my experience that over half the time at least one of the gears on Geeps need replacing, so I just want buyer to be aware. (The gears are fairly easy to replace.) However, since this GP18 was from the second manufacturing run, the split gear problem from the first manufacturing run may have been corrected. But I can make no guarantees because it is still-sealed! As you can see in last photo, all the original GP18 paperwork is included. Box is only lightly shelf-worn, and it still remains in excellent/solid condition with window completely intact (see photos 4-7). Styrofoam insert & clear plastic cover are both in excellent shape.
