Description: O-Scale Brass Southern Pacific 40’ AAR Boxcar – Class B-50-18/19, 1937, made by Boo Rim Precision Scale of Korea for Protocraft complete with additional Protocraft scale couplers and rubber air hose/glad-hands plus Protocraft decal set for SP’s late depression era steel boxcars. Those familiar with Protocraft will appreciate the exquisite detailing and superb accuracy of this car reflecting much effort in researching the actual prototype cars including consulting builder’s plans to ensure clarity of every feature included in this 1/4” = 1’0” scale reproduction. Details include prototypical Murphy steel raised panel roof members, 4/5 Dreadnaught ends – long horizontal ribs with tapered ends and smaller ‘dart’ ribs in between the tapered ends pressed into the steel end panel for added strength - with square corner construction. This car also had AB Ajax Power hand brake – one the most dependable designs ever used - with only four moving parts plus air brake retainer valve and piping, detailed wood running boards with grab irons and accurately detailed 50-ton trucks with moving journal covers. The sliding Youngstown steel door (6 feet wide) is fully operational and thoroughly detailed including door wheel brackets, door locks, track and even door stop. Beneath this model’s floor is similarly well detailed with air brake cylinders, air lines, hand brake chains, steel floor structure including wood floorboard details and push-pole pockets located at each end corner of the car. The amazing quality of this car includes fully accurate and crisp rivet patterns, bolt heads, tack boards, detailed steps, grab irons and ladders, brake step and even brake bell crank beneath car is delineated. After exhaustive research, similar attention to every detail has been achieved in Protocraft’s decal line. Car is ready for painting with decal set included. This car is in like-new condition and has only been on static display. It is being offered now because the direction of our collection has changed to focus on other rail cars including the elimination of extra cars.
