Description: This stunning porcelain 13 3/4” Charger Plate depicts an early 20th century village landscape in winter. Accented with a gold gilded border, it is signed by the French artist, Dubois. A woman carrying a basket and holding a stick or cane is walking down the middle of the village street with two cows / cattle and four sheep. The rooftops are and trees are lined with snow and the street is covered in snow. The hand painted detail is extraordinary and is layered creating a 3-D effect. The charger plate is unmarked on the back, so the only identifying factor is the artist signature of Dubois. It is well known that Dubois was an artist for French Limoges porcelain, especially the larger charger plates. There was also an artist named Dubois that painted early 20th century landscape paintings, so it could be either of these artists. This exceptional piece of artwork would make an excellent Christmas gift. It would also be a gorgeous wall addition to your winter holiday decor! It has two holes already drilled in the back for easy hanging on the wall. A stunning piece of early 1900’s porcelain in excellent condition with very minimal wear to the gold border. No chips, cracks or hairlines.
