Description: A rare 1983 Queen Elizabeth II One Pound Coin from England, featuring the Latin phrase "Decus Et Tutamen" (meaning "An Ornament and a Safeguard") upside down. The coin is composed of Nickel-Brass and was minted in the United Kingdom. It is circulated and uncertified. This coin was the very first production year and production has been discontinued making it a Rare and Highly Collectible coin. ***** PLEASE BE AWARE THERE WAS NEVER A 1983 1 POUND ERROR COIN AS MANY ARE ADVERTISING. ACCORDING TO THE ROYAL MINT- THERE IS NO RIGHT OR WRONG WAY BECAUSE THE EDGE INSCRIPTION WAS ROLLED ONTO THE COIN BLANK BEFORE THE BLANK WAS STRUCK BETWEEN THE TWO DIES. DEPENDING ON HOW THE BLANK FELL INTO THE PRESS DETERMINED WHICH WAY THE INSCRIPTION ON THE SIDE OF THE COIN ENDED UP. WITH ORDINARY CIRCULATION COINS BEING STRUCK AT OVER 700 COINS PER MINUTE IT IS SIMPLY NOT POSSIBLE TO ENSURE THAT EACH COIN IS STRUCK WITH THE EDGE INSCRIPTION POINTING IN THE SAME DIRECTION. I HAVE A COPY OF THE ROYAL MINT EXPLAING THIS FOR ANYONE INTERESTED. I want to be as fair and honest as I can and build my reputation on that.
