Soldier's large Blacksmith made D-Guard Bowie Style Fighting Knife or Short Sword. This thick heavy steel blade is crudely forged from possibly a large woodworking file or carpenters edging blade, slightly strait and coming to a clip point. A brass D-guard and quite nice looking Stag horn grip. No visible maker marks. Probably made in Southern States in the early 1860’s but could be older. Blade Length: 14.0 inches Total Length: 18.o inches Condition: Very good. Dark patina, obvious crudeness of the blacksmith made steel blade. Everything is nice and tight with no movement. Previously been on display in a Private Museum in Worcester, Massachusetts.
