Description: A Rare and Hard to Find Vintage Yu Ess Typewriter with Backspace Key. For those familiar with typewriter history, the Yu Ess was the German made Mignon typewriter re-branded and marketed as an American made typewriter. This was an attempt togain acceptance in the American market with the name Yu Ess (US). Much more information on this can be found on the internet. It is a well made index typewriter with a thick cast iron base. No cheap toy with this one. Very few were manufactured. The Yu Ess is uncommon in itself but this example with a backspace key is super rare. On other models of Yu Ess (and Mignon) there are only two keys, space and print. The third key on this specimen is the backspace key. The machine being offered here is complete and without any broken parts, however it is stiff from long term storage and not working.
