Description: Maker and age: On the base of this beautiful porcelain coffee pot are two back stamps: the red decorator's mark number (1881-1900) of the iconic Limoges maker Gerard, Dufraisseix & Morel, or GDM - the firm begun by the legendary Charles Field Haviland - and an unclear red decorator's mark that likely is a GDM back stamp from the same period, though that is not confirmed. Source: third edition of the Collector's Encyclopedia of Limoges Porcelain by Mary Frank Gaston. Design: In keeping with the exceptionally high quality that made the company's porcelain so famous, and so coveted, the coffee pot is beautifully hand painted with a subtle design of rust leaves and elegantly sculpted spout and handles trimmed in gold. Condition: The coffee pot has been well cared for throughout its long life. There are no marks, nicks, chips, cracks, stains, scratches, crazing or utensil marks. The rim has a number of dark spots. Size: The coffee pot is 7 inches wide between the tip of the spout and the far end of the handle, 3 inches wide at the top and 6 inches tall without the lid. The two pieces together weigh 1 pound 5 ounces. Please check all the photos very carefully – they are an important part of the description.
