Description: rare Juvenile Book Collecting c. 1940's William Macey Stone sammelband signed (Old Books, 20th Century Books, Reference Books, Children's Books, Book Collecting, Little Goody Two Shoes, New England Catechisms). Wilbur Macey Stone Bibliographic Reference Sammelband relating to rare early juveniles, particularly early chap books. Assembled c. 1940-50's (?), United States. Five original publications from the American Antiquarian Society bound together 5 books, each c. 40 pages. Text in English. Three appear to be inscribed to Mr. Albert C. Bates, one from Wilber Force Eames. Several related loose sheets inserted. Cloth binding, gilt title lettering. Five Titles included in this custom sammelband: The History of Little Goody Two Shoes (two copies, one with warm author's inscription); Early New England Catechisms; The Holy Bible in Verse, 1698; The Holy Bible in Verse (inscribed by author Charles L. Nichols). Three works nicely inscribed by author. Book is physically old and shows some signs of handling and time. Book is not new or in "new" condition. Binding gently age worn, mostly light or inoffensive signs of handling and time but nothing severe or unsightly, book remains overall attractive as an object. Paper is gently toned, still clean, tight, sound internally. Still attractive on the shelf. The book displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in overall nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws which may be present seem easy to overlook or forgive. The asking price reflects the condition based on our examination and 35+ years full time exposure to antiquarian books, maps and printed ephemera of all types and genres.
