Description: Rare & beautiful Thief of Baghdad festoon necklace, designed by Alexander Korda and manufactured by Rice-Weiner in the early 1940s. Inspired by the popular film of the same name, this necklace is not only an outstanding piece of very wearable jewelry but also a piece of American film history as it marked one of the first attempts to merge a product & popular culture. This necklace is anchored by a double strand of linked chains in a pewter toned metal. Hanging from these chains are three bejeweled tiers with a floral motif. Two flower designs comprise the top tier. Three short chains connect that portion to the middle section, which is the widest part of the necklace, measuring approximately 3 inches across. This section features intricately worked metal behind the floral accents made with blue stones, creamy yellow faux pearls and a bit light blue enameling. Two small teardrops hang from the middle section, flanking the bottom pendant. The bottom pendant is a single large teardrop constructed in metal, stones & faux pearls. The high quality craftsmanship and attention to detail is evident throughout the piece. It has also been extremely well cared for. All stones are present. The clasp is the push-in variety. Necklace measure approximately 15” long; length of the drop is approximately 4 3/4”
