RARE Mint/Showroom Carvin VL2212 Legacy II 2x12 100W Combo w/ Footswitch

Description: You've found a rare bird here. You're looking at a Carvin VL2212 Legacy II 100-watt 2x12 combo amplifier. This was the second in Steve Vai's signature Legacy series, and the only one Vai and Carvin brought in Ben Fargen on circuit development when this amplifier was in the design stages. If you're not familiar with Fargen Amplification and his boutique amplifier line work, take a few minutes to check them out. Tone wise- this has some of the creamiest full-body cleans without an over-the-top midrange freq hump on the clean channel. Second channel has an OD-type breakup in-between clean and straight-up hairy, with PLENTY of control from mild-drive brit rock (think Orange, VOX), to a heavier-driven Bogner tone on the other end of the gain scale. Channel 3 goes from mild drive to face-melting gain with sustain for DAYS with the right axe going into it. I've always been in love with everything about the amp, but the fantastic tone options it has throughout all three made this my go-to on 80% of the guitar recordings we did, at least SOMEWHERE in the song if not up front and center. Plus, it's a gorgeous, unique-looking amplifier. This is a 3-channel beauty that has NEVER seen the outside of a smoke-free home/recording studio. It has never been played on-stage, and I am only the second owner since Carvin California shipped it new. All tubes have been checked, all switches and pots operate perfectly- there are ZERO issues whatsoever in the circuit itself. This listing includes the original Carvin FS33 footswitch for the amplifier- I've used it once when purchasing it, but otherwise have kept it under cover with the amplifier, and is in mint condition as well. It is a self-biasing amplifier, and you can use either EL34s or 6L6s in it just by flicking the bias switch in the rear panel. You also can control the number of tubes you want your final power/volume to be by using the 100W / 50W / 25W selector switch, for those times you DON'T want the ridiculous volume 100W can deliver, while keeping the amp's tone true. The speakers & voice coils are in perfect condition, no tears/rips/mold/mildew whatsoever. The unreal tone this amplifier puts out will make any tone junkie ecstatic- it takes pedals EXTREMELY well, through the loop or in front of the amp. I've never heard a TS808 sound so good than in front of this baby. Tolex is in perfect condition (both the outer black tolex and inner hunter-green tolex surrounding the speakers), cork speaker-surrounds are in perfect condition. Also- I have only seen 2 other VL2212s for sale stateside in the last decade, neither had the close-back baffle still with them. This is a bit of a white whale, and took me years to hunt down. Alas, life happens and sometimes you must part with the things you love. As this is a heavy amplifier, and I want to keep it mint to the buyer- this will be shipped heavily protected in a packed crate, surrounded by layers of foam and packing bubbles. I would expect the final weight to be near 100lbs. Previous owner included heavy-duty casters, they are included and pictured here as well. Happy to answer any questions.
