Description: This is a rare large format framed and matted print by Xavier Gonzalez (1898-1993) from 1963 titled “Romance in Central Park”. Xavier was born in Almeria, Spain and immigrant to the USA in 1925. His works have been displayed at the Cocoran Gallery of Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This signed print depicts a mythological half man half goat (Satyr or Faun possibly Pan the Chief of the Satyrs) courting a disrobing human female. The background is the New York City skyline where Xavier spent his final years (he died in Bronx, New York). The framed print measures approximately 23”x19”.
