Wan is an old man here, but still a legend having outlived many of his contemporaries. Note: In 1928 the Republic government of China established the famous Central Guo Shu Institute in Nan Jing. The Institute was headed by five chosen masters. Wan was one of these five along, with Gu RuZhang. He had also been a qualifying finalist, along with Gu RuZhang and Guo Cheng Yao, in the highly competitive tournament of that year.
