Description: This is for a reproduction of Patti Playpal's iconic gingham red check dress and A-Line Pinafore. This set has two pieces the under dress and the pinafore piece which are separate pieces and can be interchanged with other pieces in our collection. The underdress is made from gingham red check cotton with a medium print pattern giving a 1/4" sized check. The dress has been reproduced taking notes of the original construction methods with a few differences. The original dress was noted to have a collar that was only one layer with the lace trim zig zagged on top. We decided to construct ours with a double layer where the lace is seamed in the middle to be able to wash and wear longer for better stability. Finally the last difference is a cotton liner or slip on the inside. We have decided to omit this detail to allow our collection pieces to be mixed and matched and to be able to interchange the looks. For example, this dress can be worn with the pinafore as shown, it can be worn without the pinafore, it can be worn without the pinafore with an added petticoat to make it super full and fluffy (additional piece in our collection), and it can be interchanged with other pinafores in our collection to change the looks. We've designed all our Patti Playpal pieces in our collection to interchange with each other so there are endless mix and match combinations as you collect all the dress sets. The dress has a 2.5" deep hem done with an invisible hem stitch and an approximately 9" long skirt to hit at the thigh, the bodice is self lined and the puffed sleeves have lace edging at the bottom. The collar is a curved dress collar with lace trim. The dress snaps in back. The original had square snaps however we have used modern snaps for closure. The collar is self lined and trimmed in lace. The dress's skirt is a single layer. The gingham used is a heavyweight fabric so it has a very sturdy feel to it. The white pinafore is a single layer pinafore. It is serged around all the edges and seams and topped/decorated with baby white rick rack. The bottom of the pinafore has a row of lace and it is top stitched to lay nice and straight. The pinafore has a single right hand cotton pocket which is square shaped and contains an embroidered apple. The apple is placed off center to the right on the pocket. The pinafore has two snaps at the back for closure. This dress set is part of the Patti Playpal Reproduction Wardrobe Series by Bbeauty Dolls and has been created as a tribute to the original outfits that debuted from 1959-1961 for the Patti Playpal Dolls. This dress set is not an original but modeled after the original. Dresses will fit Patti Playpal herself and any Companion Dolls that have the same body measurements. Thinner Companion Dolls may still be able to wear the collection as most pinafores tie at the waist and are loose fitting.
