The body is made of swamp ash with a thin open pore finish- making this a special Gibson Explorer limited to 400 pieces worldwide. As mentioned earlier- the original color was a thin satin paint with an open pore finish. Due to its characteristics- when I first got it used- it was in poor condition overall- with the paint peeling off in many places- so I acquired it with the intention of refinishing and restoring it. Taking advantage of the beautiful grain of the ash wood- the fabric is colored with a stain after burner firing- inspired by the Gibson Explorer- which has a cool look reminiscent of a vintage guitar. The finish will be an oil finish. The back of the neck is made of natural mahogany with an oil finish. Although it is not Gibsons traditional mahogany body- it has a bright and clear sound typical of an ash body- but it is also an individual that allows you to enjoy a moderately thick low range. The original paint was completely removed by manual sanding- and after being burnt- the fabric was colored with a stain. For the oil- we use Xotic Oil Gel- which forms a film- and finish by applying thin layers.
