This model is a very rare compact and lighter weight version of the typical fsem 20/30’s Its about 6 inches less deep and much easier to transport as its 10 lbs lighter. For an extra $500$ we can add the IQ option converted to a near performing fsiq 30 . It involves 3 upgraded boards and a lot of rerouting. But we have done it before. it’s an FSEM20 but it has option B4 so it makes it very close to an FSEM30 in other words it has a super stable time base and low noise floor AKA DANL Also b4 gives it access to Lower resolution bandwidths in addition to ultra low phase noise just like an fsem30. This one has been upgraded to a non proprietary input connector so you dont have to shell out 500$ every time you damage or misplace the front input connector ! No joke! And the input we put on is tougher than nails (agilent brand) and easier to thread on cables! Plus can be set on its face easier if need be IE: shipping. Plus as you can see in the pics the freq response is superb after we realigned it all with our automated rohde software! Once zoomed in the preselector filter gets even more flat and even in freq response. We did a bunch of upgrades on this one as we do on all of our rohdes. First off theres the input upgrade as mentioned 2nd we put a brand new led upgrade from the original ccfl flourescent into the lcd( which is the rare newer type that doesnt have the old annoying flash on most of em.) leds last triple as long and are twice as bright new. They also take much less power and keep the heat down. Second which brings us to my fav mod: the display intensity control knob which rohde never considered. This allows you to preserve the displays brightness over years where its powered on 24 / 7. Just bring the brightness down as low as you need. Fyi: theres no internal overall brightness controls in the menu either. An oversight if you ask me! Good thing thats a thing of the past with our mod! Finally we have upgraded the antiquated floppy drive to usb stick drive! Soooo much better and convenient! And you can duplicate and back them up on a pc! Lastly we have fully checked all specs and calibrated and aligned all aspects of this machine. Its the peak of german engineering in my opinion.
