Description: Silver oxidized medal of St. Germaine, a French saint born in the 16th century. The front of the medal has an image of St. Germaine and the back reads, “Pray for Us”. From her birth St. Germaine seemed marked out for suffering. She was born with a deformed hand. Her mother died when she was very young and her stepmother treated Germaine with much cruelty. Germaine was kept away from the homestead and was employed from an early age as a shepherdess. When she returned at night, her bed was in the stable or on a litter of vine branches.
