Description: Two very pretty porcelain portrait plates. One is marked Schumann Germany with the lion and shield mark, dating it to about 1950. The plate measures 7 and 5/16" and has a pierced border. It has a hand painted portrait of a young woman dressed in a salmon/orange color dress with a lace undergarment. It looks as if she is holding a paint brush to her palette. The background colors are a light green with some darker green/brown shades. The plate has a gold decorative band around the portrait. It also has a pierced border that is rimmed in gold and has decorative gold accents directly under the piercing. It is very well done. The other plate is7.5" and also has a pierced border with gold decoration. The portrait is of a young woman with long light brown curly hair dressed in a pink dress. The background is white. This also looks like a German plate to me and is probably older than the other one. There is no mark on the bottom. Both plates are very nicely painted and in excellent condition.
