Made in FRANCE in the late 19th century, it features a high glaze finish (crazing) and is decorated with a character street vendor frying cakes or donuts and school children, cats theme. “De Bonne Friture”. Designed by ceramic artist & painter Froment-Richard aka Antoine-Albert Richard (1845-1921). “Children Richard” chromolithography series. The plate is 8 1/2" in diameter and is made of faience pottery. Floral wave rim. Scalloped. Colorful! Raised relief rim. Two holes on top of back rim for hanging display. The plate is in great original shape and has a printed backstamp (photo). 2235P. Signed within the design printed backwards initial backstamp “RF”, seen on green sign to left of black cat (photo). It is an item that would make a great gift (baby, nursery) for all occasions. Very light surface scuff. Clean. VERY GOOD, antique, preowned, used condition.
