Description: This one-of-a-kind, vintage, folk art bowl was hand-crafted in Hamilton, AL by Jerry Brown. The front is impressed with a cross and the bottom incised with the date “10-96”, artists signature “Jerry Brown” and “Hamilton, AL”. The cobalt blue bowl measures approximately 4-1/4 inches across at the mouth x 2-3/4 inches in height. Brown, a ninth generation potter utilized many traditional pottery methods including digging his own clay and firing most of his work in a brick kiln. Among other awards and recognition of his work, in 1992 he was awarded the National Heritage Fellowship and has five pieces of his pottery on exhibit in the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C.
