Description: This is a vintage Singer model 401a slant model zigzag sewing machine. This is considered by many to be the finest sewing machine Singer ever made. The slant model means that the sewing arm comes down at an angle. This gives the machine more punching power to sew through leather, canvas, sail cloth etc. The machine has all steel gears and should last a lifetime if properly cared for. The machine has a slant needle, rotary hook, .72 amp motor, double-thread capacity tensioner, double capacity needle clamp, 25+ built in stitch patterns, and a special disc compartment. It is in excellent condition. Use the mouse over to look at it. Although the machine has 25 built in patterns, it will accept other discs which are readily available on this site. It has a working light. I have opened it up top and bottom and oiled and greased it at all the Singer recommended points. The threading diagram is inside the left hand cover (picture 3). Picture 5 shows the pattern settings. The 6th picture gives examples of sewing patterns - use the mouse over feature to get a good look at the stitches (not included). On top of the machine there are holes called "weep" holes. This is where you oil the machine so you don't have to open it up every time. It comes with the "Primary Discs", discs numbers one through five which are the discs Singer recommends in addition to the built in patterns. Shipping quote is for the contiguous states. The manual is for sale on eBay or can be downloaded online. The light works. It comes with the following:Foot pedal Power cordPrimary discs numbered 1-5Straight edge with screwStraight stitch footStandard presser foot - on machine Adjustable zipper footTuckerRufflerBinder foot Spare bobbinThanks for looking...
