Description: St Dominic Single Decade Rosary Beautiful single decade rosary with a nickel silver 7/8" oval St Dominic medal and a 1-1/2" silver-toned St Benedict crucifix. The crucifix and the medal were made in Italy; I designed and handmade the chaplet in our home in the USA.All the beads are 8 mm. The ten Hail Mary beads are genuine Czech glass, faceted and fire-polished, in alternating dark aqua blue and aurora borealis crystal. The single Our Father is a smooth, round, genuine Amethyst gemstone. The Dominican order became well known for its well-educated and excellent preachers. St Dominic is often credited with receiving the rosary from Our Lady, but actually he was just very effective in spreading devotion to the rosary, after Our Lady appeared to him and asked him to encourage people to pray it. The rosary in various forms had been in use since the beginning of the church. Because of a vision or dream his mother had when carrying him, St Dominic is the patron saint of astronomers, astrology, and all the sciences. The prayer cards which come with our rosaries, medals and pictures are home-made, created using a "greeting card" program on a computer and printed in full color on nice quality paper.
