The chaplet itself was designed and handmade by me in the USA.The ten Hail Mary beads are genuine Czech glass, faceted and fire-polished, in alternating light turquoise and aurora borealis crystal. The Our Father bead is a white ceramic with hand painted rose. St Elizabeth Ann Seton is the first native-born US citizen to become a saint. Born 2 years before the American Revolution, she was raised in the high society of the newborn United States, fell in love, was happily married and bore several children. Time went on, her beloved husband became ill; his business failed; they traveled to Italy in the hopes of improving his health; but he died there. Elizabeth became a Catholic, returned to America, was spurned by her high-society Protestant in-laws, and opened a school in Baltimore. Eventually one school became another school and two orphanages, and she founded the Sisters of Charity which would become the foundation of America's parochial school system. We have much to thank this brave woman for. She is the perfect role model for any young person aspiring to a career in education.
