Just like other types of onions, chives develop bulbs from the roots. Chives develop purple, star-shaped flowers arranged in dense terminal clusters composed of 10 to 30 individual flowersGarlic Chives - Plant garlic chives in the spring or fall. Garlic chives have a flat grass-like leaf with a mild onion/garlic flavor. Plant in containers, or herb and flower gardens. You can also grow them indoors like other herbs.Use the leaves fresh, dried or frozen. Flowers can be eaten or dried.The flower heads are also used in flower arrangements.
