Heinlein's masterpiece, Stranger in a Strange Land. An early copy presenting handsomely in its original dust jacket. A very nice example. "An amazing, iconoclastic and complex satire of hypocrisy in sex and religion A radical departure from conventional science fiction" (Patterson, 29, 48). "It reached large audiences farther away from his science fiction roots than anything else [Heinlein] wrote, and inspired insurgencies both right and left" (Anatomy of Wonder II-518). It went on to win Heinlein's third Hugo Award. In 2012, the US Library of Congress named it one of 88 "Books that Shaped America". Condition:Binding tight and about square. Original full-bound cloth boards present clean and unmarked. Minimal rubbing to corners and edge-wear. Light wear to head and foot of spine at hinge corners. Spine unfaded with crisp title. Text-blocks clean and bright. No other remarkable wear externally. Internally clean, bright and unmarked but nearly unremarkable remnants of neatly penciled letters to top fore-edge corner of front endpaper. Dust jacket shows very well with richly colored front panel and spine. Moderate age-toning and spotting to rear. Edges mostly clean with a few small closed tears and a faint crease extending across bottom front. A bit of wear to corners and head and foot of spine with no loss. Moderate wear to hinges. Age-toning to flap edges. Original price of $6.95 not clipped. A very nice example.
