This torch is compact, making it convenient to work with or display.The inventor, Stanley Earle Peters, was born in Union, Wisconsin in 1888. In 1917, his WW1 draftregistration lists him working as a machinist for the C.E. Barrett & Co. of Chicago (a fountain pen maker);also interesting…he had only one glass eye. In 1942, his WW2 draft registration states his employer asthe Quality Hardware & Machinery Corp. of Chicago; this company made parts for M-1 rifles in WW2.US patent No. 2,270,826 is described as an improvement over the earlier Peters patent. The focus is onsafety features, including a convex base to the fuel tank, and a stop to prevent the control valve frominadvertently being backed out of the burner and releasing fuel. The drawings show details of theNational Safety Pumpless torches. The patent is assigned to Henry Baumgarth.This is truly a collector's item! Meticulously researched and reconditioned to how this would have come out of the box! A "David E. Kolb" original masterpiece! This is a beautifully restored antique blow torch. My late father passed away in early 2020. Collecting and restoring these items was his passion for as long as I can remember (I think he had over 1000 at some point). He spent the time to ensure that the color match and finish matched the original manufacturer. My photos do not do justice for how well this looks!!! I am slowly but surely selling off his collection to those who would most appreciate them.This torch is approximately 4" tall and 7" wide at the base to handle. The original handle is painted black and in excellent condition. The base is brass and painted to a like new condition. This torch has been completely taken apart, cleaned and inspected. I have not attempted to ignite it myself or leak check it, but knowing my dad's eye for detail, believe this is in good working order.
