Description: Up for sale is a Very Rare, Early U.K. Revised Edition of The Fellowship Of The Ring by J.R.R. Tolkien. Being the first part of The Lord of the Rings. Revised Second Edition. Early Printing. "Twelfth Impression 1980" is clearly stated on the copyright page. "Revised Second Edition" is clearly stated on the inside front flap of the dust jacket. Please note that "Impression" and "Printing" are interchangeable terms. In this listing, we have chosen to go with the more common term of "Printing". Early U.K. Printings of the Revised Second Edition are Scarce and Becoming Increasingly Hard to Find!! Please remember this is the Highly Coveted U.K. Edition. NOT the More Common, Less Valuable U.S. Edition. Hardcover with its original, beautifully illustrated dust jacket. Published by London: George Allen & Unwin. 1980. Original map is present but no longer attached. While we hope it should go without saying, we still feel compelled to clearly state that this book is obviously NOT the First Edition/First Printing of this title. This book is also NOT the First Revised U.K. Edition. This book is the Twelfth Printing, (Impression), of the U.K. Revised Edition. This rare treasure has some clearly visible wear, but is still in Highly Desirable, Highly Collectible condition! The wear, however, should be carefully examined/considered BEFORE buying. The book appears gently read and has no internal writing, no remainder marks, no missing pages and is NOT Ex-Libris. The binding is holding firm and tight. All of the pages are present and attached with the exception of the map. The map, which is located at the rear of the book, is fully detached. The map should be attached to the book but at some point in time it was ripped out. In addition to being fully separated from the book, the map has some very clearly visible wear which includes rips and creases. Once again, the map is fully separate from the book and has been placed in the spot in which it originally belonged. In regards to the book itself… Some general/shelf wear along with creases/scuffing/wear to the spine/corners/boards, marks/wear to the edge/fore pages and creases/marks/wear to the pages, NOT affecting the text! Please note the wear to the spine/corners/boards, particularly noticeable near/along the edges, and the wear that is present on the pages, particularly noticeable on certain pages. All of the wear previously mentioned is clearly visible and should be carefully examined/considered. The original dust jacket is fully intact. Some general/shelf wear along with creases, scuffing, scratches and marks. Please note the wear on the spine, at the corners and near/along the edges. The wear, particularly near/along the edges, is clearly visible and should be carefully examined/considered. We tend to grade the condition of our books rather harshly and took into consideration any and all of the wear when determining the value of this rare book. We purposely and closely photographed what we consider to be the most obvious and egregious wear. Once again, we want to reiterate that the wear to both the book and the dust jacket is clearly visible! All of the wear should be carefully examined/considered BEFORE buying. Numerous photographs from various angles were taken for your consideration/inspection. Please closely and carefully view ALL the pictures for further clarification!! Payment must be received within three days or the book will be re-listed. Please feel free to contact us with any and all questions. We are very proud of our 100% positive feedback/ranking and offer an easy, no questions asked return policy so you can buy with confidence! Thank you!!
